Day 4: Respond: What do you love the most about teaching?
So my 30 days are already non-continuous, but I’ll keep working to try and blog each day.
This is a tough question to answer. I love the dynamic work environment provided by teaching. I love that each day is different, and I love that I get to meet a brand new set of people every year. I like that each crop of students changes the way that I look at my content area. I like how no two sections of the same class are alike. I like that I can generally change my approach if I don’t like the outcome of my early attempts.
I was a person who was often very bored in my pre-teaching jobs. (I often tell my students stories of when I had to wear the Turtle Suit at the water park…shudder!) I feel as though I get to operate my class with a sense of autonomy, and I feel that I really do get to make my own decisions about my classroom. (Within reason, of course!)
Even when things are hectic, I still think I have WAY more good days than bad, and that’s definitely a reason to love my job.
